About us back

Who We Are

Shore-to-Help is a Monmouth County organization working to raise funds for local charities. The group began meeting in November 2007 as a small number of community members organizing a Thanksgiving Day football game. What started as a simple morning of fun with friends (on a day otherwise reserved for family) quickly evolved into a real event! With nearly 300 participants through the years and over $100,000 raised for local charities, Shore-to-Help aims to ease the burden for others through fund raising.

The Shore-to-Help goal is to improve our event year by year - both in the spirit of the event and the funds raised. This year, we are raising money for Mary's Place By The Sea located in Ocean Grove, NJ. Mary’s Place provides a retreat for women fighting cancer, helping them heal their mind, body, and soul. Operating solely from donations, the funds raised at this year’s event will contribute to the building of a new facility thus accommodating more women stricken with this awful disease. The new facility will be located in Ocean Grove, NJ. For more information please visit

8th Annual Monmouth Beach Turkey Bowl - November 27, 2014

posted on Friday, November 6, 2014

Are you ready for some football?!

Here we go again boys!! The best day of the year is only three weeks away and that means its time for the 8th installment of the Monmouth Beach Turkey Bowl!! Before I get down to the specifics I want to give you a recap of last year's event.

Last year's event raised a ridiculously impressive total of $49,000 that was distributed to the "Make Some Noise: Cure Kids Cancer" foundation in memory of beautiful 13-year-old Danielle Boyko and the Cole Porter Foundation. Funds raised for the Cole Porter Foundation were donated to the Lily and Faye Porter education fund. To understand the impact we had please go to to see letters from some of the families we helped! In addition to raising money we also had a total of 92 players across 6 teams competing last Thanksgiving with Mark Gardner's "Occupy Barstool" taking the coveted trophy. As always the party on the sideline was first class with over 250 people attending, despite the cold and windy weather. The canned food drive also brought in 400 lbs of food for the Monmouth County Food Bank.

This year we are going to raise money for another amazing local charity, Mary's Place by the Sea. Mary's Place by the Sea provides an innovative approach to caring for women with cancer during and after treatment. They offer individual oncological massage, guided meditation, nutritional counseling, spa services, group workshops and overall support in a 6 bedroom lake front bed and breakfast located in Ocean Grove New Jersey. Since opening in May 2009 Mary's Place by the Sea, a non-profit organization has served over 500 women, free of charge throughout the tri-state area. As one guests writes, "My healing began at Mary's Place."

Please take a minute to watch their new video

Now onto the game. Thanksgiving is later this year and the game will be played on November 27th. We will use the same format this year with all 6 teams competing in round 1 games. The team that raised the most money out of the 3 first round winners will get the bye to championship game. The rules of the game are pretty much the same but we will send out a separate email with a more detailed breakdown of the rules in order to avoid challenges.

So here is what I need from you. Please respond back to me and confirm that you are playing. Draft night is November 17th, so please confirm that you will be playing by November 14th. This will help us in ordering the shirts we give out each year.

Lastly and most importantly. This game is about getting together and having fun. The fact that we can also raise money is a testament to the spirit of the group and our community. Whether you bring canned food, money or "sideline beverages" (very important) the most important thing to us is participating and having fun. This is OUR day boys let’s make it better than last year!!!
